HonestWrite (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you access or use HonestWrite, our web application, and related services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only information necessary to deliver and improve our writing assistant platform:

• Account Data: When you register, we collect your email address, name, and profile identifiers through our authentication provider (Clerk).
• Drafts and Input Content: When you paste or type text into HonestWrite, we process that content solely to generate real-time grammar corrections, tone analysis, and rewriting suggestions.
• Billing & Payment Information: Payment transactions are handled entirely by our billing provider and merchant of record, Polar. We do not collect or store full credit card numbers on our servers. We receive customer identifiers and subscription status from Polar to unlock paid plan features.
• Usage Telemetry & Logs: We collect aggregate statistics such as word counts processed, feature usage, browser type, and timestamps to monitor capacity and prevent service abuse.

3. How We Use and Protect Your Writing

We use your information strictly to:

• Provide real-time rewriting, tone tuning, and grammatical improvements;
• Maintain your personal rewrite history so you can review previous drafts;
• Enforce plan word allowances and maintain service security;
• Respond to your customer support and billing requests.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information only with trusted third-party sub-processors that enable core functionality:

• Polar Software Inc. (Polar.sh): Merchant of record and payment processing;
• Clerk Inc.: User authentication and session security;
• Cloud Infrastructure Providers: High-security database and hosting infrastructure with end-to-end encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

5. Data Retention and Deletion Rights

Drafts in your history are stored in your private workspace until you delete them. You can delete individual rewrites at any time from the History page. You also have the right to request full account deletion and erasure of all associated data by contacting support.

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
